Can I Sell My Caravan or Motorhome With Finance Still Owing?

Outstanding finance doesn't stop you selling — it just adds one extra step. Here's how it works.

How it works

The finance owing has to be settled as part of the sale. The amount you owe is paid from the sale proceeds first, and any balance left over comes to you. If the settlement figure comes in higher than the vehicle's value, you'd need to cover the difference — but that's less common than most people assume, especially if you're a few years into the agreement.

Step by step

  1. Contact your finance provider and request a settlement figure — the exact amount needed to clear the agreement on a given date.

  2. Compare that figure to a valuation, so you know where you stand.

  3. If you're happy to proceed, the settlement is handled as part of the sale transaction.
